ValueWeb

ValueWeb / Cybergate

ValueWeb / Cybergate had various web-related products targeted to varying markets. Two core revenue streams included digital solutions for Linux (an open-source operating system) users and web-development tools for small to medium businesses.

The client was scheduled to appear as a sponsor at a convention of Linux users who are often regarded as tech-geeks, but most importantly as trend-setters - at least in the computer and digital world. They wanted to produce a giveaway premium that would resonate with this market enough to display proudly while discreetly raising the ValueWeb brand profile. We took a cue from their leading-edge reputation to convey a message that rings true, not only for the target market, but for the client as well.

:30 TV Spot (Animatic)
ValueWeb was looking to promote a set of shopping cart tools for online merchants through local and regional TV spots. We had a limited budget to work with and were aware of the fact that the client's product was not necessarily conducive to a visual medium. Therefore a budget spent on visual production would probably be an exercise in counterproductivity. We immediately landed on the idea of quick cuts of merchant pages which were exploding in popularity at the time. Some dynamic music came in the way of 80's post-punk group, DEVO, which fit the edit perfectly and spoke to our target demographic of programmers and business owners. Although the spot never aired or reached full production, Leftfield was able to negotiate the music licensing fee to a fraction of the initial quote from Universal Music Group.
